My first typeface! This is the new sound-effects typeface I’m using on Pat David’s comicbook IVORY. I have a lot of tweaking I need to do with it before I’m ready to make it available for purchase though.
This typeface was designed from scratch, but type-junkies and fontophiles may be able to see some unconscious influences. Hopefully I’ve avoided any appearance of a rip-off because I purposely avoided looking at other typefaces and just went with what looked cool in my head, basing it on the lettering I’d create back in high school on notebooks and signs that I designed in marker for the produce department at Publix where I worked.
Influences for this typeface may be found in the myriad of sound-fx found in the thousands of comics I’ve read since I was a kid, as well as recent letterers’ work like Chris Eliopoulos and others.
